He was awarded the Nobel peace prize in 1984 for his role in the struggle to abolish the apartheid system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-verse\" style=\"font-size: 18px; text-align: justify;\">He was remembered for his easy humour and characteristic smile. He coined the term&nbsp;<strong>\u201cRainbow Nation\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;to describe South Africa when Nelson Mandela became the country\u2019s first black President in
