Aung San Suu Kyi, an advocate of democratic reforms in Myanmar
Almost ten months ago, the military carried out a coup and seized power in Myanmar. The military detained Aung San Suu Kyi and other prominent leaders of her party. The United States condemned the coup.
Since the coup, there has been a nationwide protest against Myanmar’s military junta. As per reports, many people are killed by Myanmar security forces, and thousands are arrested.
Aung San Suu Kyi is now sentenced to two years in prison on charges of incitement, etc. The sentencing is widely condemned even by United Nations for human rights in Myanmar.
